2019 VGMA Unsung Artiste of the year Kula joined West 97.5 FM’s Midmorning show Ayekoo Monday 17 June, 2019, to throw a word of advice to Volta based artistes.
Ayekoo Show is hosted by DJ Disc Master Bone with co-host Edward Khalifa aka “Khalifa Is Everywhere” every weekday from 10AM till 12 midday. On wishing a relatively successful brother good will on his birthday on air, Khalifa asked since Kula doesn’t want to pride him self as a Volta Artiste, what does he think the rest of his colleagues down town are not doing right.
Kula said he thinks most of them are too comfortable in the region.
“I think most people are comfortable at where they are, most of them are comfortable as in when they get some kind of popularity in the region then they get comfortable, like yeah am a star. Ghana is big and truth be told, if you blow in Accra you blow in Ghana. Where ever you are, if you get Accra’s attention you get Ghana’s attention cuz most radio stations in the other regions get their news from Accra.
So the fact that you are big in the region, doesn’t stop you from the capital and trying to make an impact. The aim is to get the kind of recognition that will get the bigger deal. So if you’re comfortable in the Volta region, you are not aspiring to get to the next step…”
Kula has applauded the works of his colleague artistes in the region saying
“the music from the Volta region is good, the artistes in the Volta region are doing great music but it’s time for them to get out of their shells and their comfort zone and come into the real world to gain the kind of attention that will actually propel them to the next level. Doing music in the Volta region is easy but the battle ground is here”
Kula promised his fans a lot more projects coming up, he will be in the region for a tour of his next song and might carry along his award (plaque) so fans can take shots with him.
